Motoro Stingray

Motoro Stingray (*Potamotrygon motoro*) is a striking freshwater stingray from the Amazon Basin, prized for its patterned disc-like body and peaceful temperament. Growing 40–50 cm in diameter, it features a dark brown or black dorsal surface with lighter spots and a long, whip-like tail. A bottom dweller, it thrives in warm, slightly acidic water (24–28°C, pH 6.5–7.5) with a minimum 200-liter tank, soft sandy substrate, and robust filtration. Feed a varied carnivorous diet of sinking pellets, bloodworms, and frozen shrimp. House with larger, non-aggressive tankmates such as Severums or larger catfish. Sensitive to poor water conditions and handling, it requires weekly 20% water changes and ample hiding spots to feel secure. Due to the sensitive nature of this species, local pickup only—no shipping available.
