Melanurus Wrasse
The Melanurus Wrasse, also known as the Tail Spot Wrasse, features striking blue-green coloring with pink or yellow horizontal stripes. This active fish requires a minimum 50-gallon aquarium with a sandy substrate for burrowing and a secure lid. It thrives alongside peaceful wrasses and serves as a natural predator of fireworms and pyramidellid snails, helping protect corals. Feed a varied diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, quality marine flakes, and pellets. Note that it may consume feather dusters, wild shrimp, and tubeworms, and occasionally picks parasites from tank mates.
